With my roommates gone I had the apartment to myself this weekend and decided to take in some of Florence. Jessica's roommates were gone as well so we decided to have our own adventures. On Friday after working in the lab on my midterm project we went to an appertivo, which is when you pay around 8 euro and you get a drink of your choice and they set up a little buffet with all kinds of food, it’s a great deal! After we met up with some other girls and enjoyed the night life. On Saturday we went to Acadamia to see the statue of David. It was unbelievable who huge he was! The size of his hands and feet were unreal. unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures so postcards are the only things I have from the visit. After we went to mass at the Duomo which was very nice because it was in English. It was my first time being in the building and it was very beautiful. Elizabeth and I made dinner that night before we went out with the other girls. Today I went to my first professional soccer match. We were decked out in our purple shirts (Florence’s team color) and had the perfect day for it. It was exciting to watch everyone so passionate about the game. People were waving huge flags and yelling various chants, which of course we did not understand. I felt like I got a nice taste of Florence this weekend while having some much needed alone time.
At our favorite bar Kikuya and the soccer game. Go Firenze!
